This is an excellent site if you wish to listen to some real air traffic control from different locations around the world. You can choose your geographical area at the top of the page and the locations which are marked in green are accessible. Most of what you listen to in this way is entirely routine, but the site also collects particularly interesting segments where ‘something happened’, though you need to join up to listen to these.
How about listening to Fortaleza or KJFK - NY Approach (Final) or Paris Orly (some of them have a cute accent but it doesn't interfere with ease of understanding ).

This link will take you directly to a page where you will be able to listen to an extensive series of pilot stories, each entitled ‘Never again’. These stories are all about an error of judgement on the part of a private pilot, which could have been fatal and the pilots explain what they learned from these experiences. The good thing is that you can listen to these stories online as you read the transcription along, or download them as podcasts.
Why don't you try right now this one about 'Overlooking the obvious'? It starts like this, "My student Mike and I had filed an IFR flight plan from Nashville International Airport to Warren County Memorial Airport located in McMinville, Tennessee, where he would take the oral part of his instrument check ride. The weather was not good enough for the practical test, but we figured this would be great real-world IFR experience for him.........."
